Physical damage
Pays to repair or replace your own truck and trailer after a crash, fire, theft, or storm.
Requirement
Not federally required. Priced on the value you state for each unit and the deductible you choose.

What it pays for
- Collision: damage to your rig from hitting a vehicle or object, or a rollover
- Comprehensive: fire, theft, vandalism, hail, flood, and hitting an animal
- Towing, on many policies
What it leaves out
- Wear, mechanical breakdown, or tire damage on its own
- Damage to other people's property (that is liability)
- A trailer you do not own, unless you add trailer interchange or non-owned trailer cover
Who needs it
Owner-operators and fleets who could not pay to replace a truck out of pocket. If your truck is financed or leased, your lender will require it.
Common questions
How is my truck's value set?
Most trucking policies use stated value: you declare what each unit is worth. Set it close to real market value; overstating it raises your premium without raising your payout.
Can I raise my deductible to lower the price?
Yes. A higher deductible lowers your premium. Pick one you could pay the same week a claim happens.
